My Data belongs to Me – Introducing a Discussion on Personal Data in the Virtualisation Society!

At WSIS+10 High Level Event in Geneva, WSA framed out a huge issue of ICT development: Data Citizen Rights to Personal Data in the Virtualisation Society

Internet has a huge memory. Pictures, data and personal information will be stored, sold, duplicated and spread before you can utter the words “My data belongs to me”.

But what about the human right of data privacy?

At the WSIS+10 High-Level Event Peter A. Bruck, Chairman of the WSA, held a workshop on “Data Citizen Rights” and introduced the issue in the subsequent meetings of the UN consultation process leading up to the 2015 Review: “WSIS+10 needs to deal with the challenges posed by big data and global connected economy.

WSA started the initiative “My data belongs to me” in order to create a level playing field in the market of social media, cloud computing and internet of things. We need to go to a central starting point: unless someone asks for my permission and make transparent for what you use it, they cannot use my data.”

WSYA Discovery
The Drinkable Book
Made for the people who can’t really afford RO Systems for purifying water. For those who need a quick solution to the oh-so obvious clean water problem in the country. This “Book” purifies water using paper coated with Silver Nitrate. The people say it’s cheap to produce these. The number of lives it’ll save is unimaginable.

We discovered this amazing invention on the blog of our media partners Economy Decoded. Check it out for more fascinating news!

Spread the word about WSYA 2014!
