At the World Congress on Information Technology the leaders in ICT come together to review the state of innovation, this time they meet with the next generation, who combines innovation with social action.

This week the who is who of the information and communication technology (ICT) will arrive in Montréal, Canada, for WITSA’s 18th World Congress on Information Technology and its youth track Young Digital Planet, organized by the World Summit Youth Award. 18 young New Media heroes will challenge global ICT-Players and show what it means to be a truly digital generation fighting for one common goal: To Better the World.

Program Highlights
In an effort to drive the winners to their boundaries and far beyond, Fishbowl Sessions, Workshops, Business Speed Meetings and Success Stories will help the Winner’s Projects to boost their ideas, overcome boundaries, find sponsors and become big fishes in social media. The lessons learned including the missteps will make more aware of the challenges and opportunities being faced at the global level.

Following an interactive panel with talk show legend Larry King and the Gala Night on Tuesday – where the Winners will be honoured on a world stage – WCIT and WSYA will close the three-day event together with a final overview a the press conference on Wednesday morning 10:00 am.

“We hope that the winners will be inspired by each other as well as by those officials in order to foster their commitment in helping to advance the UN Millennium Development Goals by 2015 with the help of ICT”, says Prof. Peter A. Bruck, chairman of the World Summit Youth Award.

The Young Digital Planet kicks off its official program with a deep look into the glass bowl: Join the interactive dialogue with the audience. Speakers from IT and business will talk about trends, hot topics, new ideas and perspectives about the Future of our Digital Society!


Prof. Peter A. Bruck, Chairman of the European Youth Award, will accompany you in the Fishbowl Session on Monday and speak about innovation and the future of Youth Entrepreneurship and ICT for Development.

ITAC’s Welcome Words from Karna Gupta
The Information and Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) and its members have played a significant role in bringing WCIT 2012 to Montréal. It has been over four years since the ITAC Board took the decision to bring the event to Canada and an enormous amount of work and effort has gone into preparing for it.

As the national association of Canada’s information and communications technology (ICT) industry, ITAC is proud to have taken the lead in bringing WCIT 2012 to Canada.
