The Winners’ Gala is the highlight of the entire WSA process and a unique opportunity to honour excellence and creativity in e-Content. The 40 WSA Winners will receive their awards in the presence of Ministers for Communication from the region, CEOs from international IT companies, United Nations’ Officials and high level international guests. |

April 27th – 28th e-Content Conference: Sharing Knowledge & Innovative Applications For two days, the WSA winners, selected from 460 products an over 100 UN member states, will present their awarded projects. They will discuss in panels, share their visions on ICT and their personal experience at the CICC, Cairo International Convention & Exhibition Center. Each session will be thematically dedicated to one WSA category and be moderated by a member of the Grand Jury and other high level experts in e-Content. Furthermore workshops will demonstrate how using and working with ICTs can improve the lives of many. The WSA Winners’ Events will be screened live by Youth Award Winners from 2010 What's up Youth "WupY". WupY will moreover enrich the Event with a Social Café and Twitter discussion.

WSA Winner builds THE WALL in Cairo
Interactive Multimedia Installation pictures Cairo’s cultural heritage
World Summit Award Winner in 2011, THE WALL from Copenhagen, serves as a role model and inspiration for a new interactive wall in Cairo. Selected by the Danish Egyptian Dialogue Institute (DEDI) THE WALL producers will help to celebrate the values of democracy, the rich history and the culture of Cairo.
WSA Winner THE WALL is a massive and mobile interactive video installation on the streets of Copenhagen that allows citizens and visitors to explore in depth the cultural past, present, and future of the city together with its diverse ethnic and cultural communities. It has already attracted well over one million visitors.
This innovative approach to city history and culture pioneered by the Museum of Copenhagen with Gibson International is now set to grow an exciting new form in the city of Cairo. The Cairo Wall will build on the core technology and concepts of the original WALL to create its own innovative public platform for the cultural and natural heritages of Cairo, unique in the Middle East and the Arab World.
DEDI will hold a workshop in Cairo concurrently with the World Summit Award Winners Event (April, 26-29) to look at the scope and feasibility of the project.

Franklin Murillo, CEO of the education platform miguiaEducativa shared the best answer on Facebook and Twitter and won the much sought-after trip to the WSA-mobile Winners Events in Abu Dhabi taking place in November 2012. Abu Dhabi will then host the best Apps and mobile sites worldwide, turning UN WSIS targets into actions.

Bahrain: The Web is all about contents
WSA at the Bahrain International e-Government Forum
The Web is not only about technology or tools that make your system run faster or save more data. Without substance a website stays an empty envelope, a discarnate skeleton. WSA-mobile Winner “Wikitude” WSA Board Member Alexander Felsenberg from Germany contributes an e-Content Workshop to the Bahrain International e-Government Forum.
The e-Content Workshop held on April 10th acts upon the maxim “The Web is All About Contents” and will outline how technologies can help to raise awareness on e-Content.
It focusses on the latest innovations and creative approaches to develop e-Content in the region and is in line with the Bahrain e-Content Award. The Bahrain e-Content Award is a national Pre-selection Event for the Global World Summit Award.
“Global content always needs local content. Local contents require local producers and creative content developers” states WSA Chairman Peter A. Bruck who will moderate the Panel Discussion on Social Networking at the Bahrain International e-Government Forum.
Among the speakers will also be WSA Board Member Ralph Simon und Kei Shimada WSA Expert from Japan.
